Recruiting & Hiring for Law Enforcement

The New Braunfels Police Department is prod to host the Dolan Consulting Group. The process of recruiting, vetting and hiring qualified applicants represents one of the greatest challenges confronting law enforcement. This course will introduce students to a variety of innovative recruiting strategies being implemented throughout the country to meet the challenges of recruiting., particularly recruiting with an emphasis on diversifying the ranks. Students will also learn about ways to navigate the hiring process while minimizing legal liability risks along the way – from recruiting to hiring, interviews to background investigations, and the probationary process.
Cost for Training: $390 per student

Rape & Aggression Defense Training
Date: March 4-7, 2019 (6pm to 9pm)
Location: New Braunfels Public Library, 700 E. Common Street
The New Braunfels Police Department is proud to announce we will be offering Rape & Aggression Defense (RAD) Training in 2019. This training includes lecture, discussion and hands-on self-defense techniques and is suitable for women of all ages and ability. Our RAD Instructors are certified NBPD Officers with specialized training to help women of New Braunfels with self-defense techniques. This training is designed for women of at least 13-years of age and who reside or attend school within the counties of Comal or Guadalupe, or work within the area of New Braunfels. Student should be in good health and capable of participating in a physical training with minor exertion. Student must be able to understand basic verbal and visual instructions and follow along with the lessons provided. All students MUST attend all (4) consecutive nights of training to successfully complete the program.

Applicant Background Investigation & Interview Techniques
DATE: March 13-14, 2019 (830am to 5pm)
LOCATION New Braunfels Police Department / Training Room - 1488 S. Seguin Ave New Braunfels, Texas 78130
This sixteen (16) hour course is designed to teach law enforcement applicant background investigators and interview board members a productive and legal means of conducting these critical phases of applicant selection. The proper selection of applicants has increasingly become more of a major issue due to increasing complaints and litigation alleging negligent selection and retention, along with persistent allegations of discrimination. Each student will receive a workbook, sample forms and supportive information to guide future efforts in both areas of investigations and interviews. Cost of the course is $250 per person and includes the workbook and all ancillary material. Sixteen (16) hours of training credit will be reported to TCOLE upon successful completion. Registration may be made by mail, fax, email, or online by credit card. Payment at the Door is Acceptable
